I have always enjoyed sewing and crocheting but it wasn't until I left the corporate world in 2004 and started weaving did I discovered that working with fabrics and fibers was my true calling and passion in life. I started my journey through the fiber arts with weaving and I love being able to design and create my own lengths of cloth to sew with.

I am mostly a self-taught fiber artist I enjoy the process of experimenting with different techniques to discover what works. This time spent experimenting has caused my work to

evolve and change over the years and so have my interests in different elements of the textile arts. Working with silk fusion has given me an endless source of enjoyment and I'm continually fascinated by how versatile a medium it is. One of my current passions is the exploration of working in 3d using layered fabric and fiber surfaces and the combination of paper and fabric to create my own journals and sketchbooks

Being able to share what I've learned through the exploration and experimentation of my work in fiber artistry by teaching is a great source of delight to me. I love to see how my students interpret their own visions using the techniques that I have shared with them.
I live in Upton, Massachusetts with my husband and 4 dogs and you can read about my current travels through the world of fiber artistry by visiting my blog at http://suebleiweiss.typepad.com/. and my current online class offerings can be found at joggles.com

love to create my own fabric-covered journals. Using a journal that you've made yourself gives whatever you use it for whether it's drawing or writing that much more meaningful and special and they make terrific gifts.

In this class I'm going to show you how easy it is to make your own personalized sketchbooks with hand stitched signatures. We'll embellish the pages with torn fabric strips and I'll show you how to create a layered fiber using torn paper from old worn cheap novels that were destined for the recycle bin along with fibers, fabrics and yarns.

Fabric boxes
Sue Bleiweiss - Artist
1 Day Workshop - Saturday October 20

Kit Fee $25.00 - Payable to Artist

In this workshop I’m going to share with you my techniques for making boxes. You’ll learn how easy it is to make boxes using an easy modular assembly method and I’ll show you how to make boxes that have removable tops, flip up lids and even ones with drawers. As a special bonus in this class I’ll be teaching how to make my “hugs & kisses” box: This box is filled with fabric “X’s” and “O’s”and when the lid is taken off turns into a game board for tic-tac-toe!

You can use your boxes to store notions or fill them with candy and other small items. Or you can turn your box into a Blessings Box. The Blessings Box is something I created to keep little scrolls with thoughts of gratitude written on them. You can keep your box in a special place and fill it with little tied scrolls that have things you are grateful for written on them. Then on the gray days when you’re feeling low you can open it up and be reminded of all your blessings and things that you have to be grateful for. Or you can fill it with special thoughts or inspiring quotes and give it to someone special in your life.
