Have you ever thought of the humble bra doing more than what it was designed for? Have you considered that with a few adjustments, it could be a girl's ultimate accessory…a purse!

On the evening of Thursday 18th October 2007, ArtFest to Nurture the Soul attendees will be gathering for the ultimate Bra Purse Challenge. This is a challenge where there are very few rules but many winners. This is a challenge that will get the creative juices flowing and the end result will be a spectacular array of Bra Purses that will be exhibited raising money to support the The Breast Form Fund which, offers financial assistance for breast prostheses and post mastectomy bras for women who have either no insurance, or are under-insured. The BFF offers assistance to women of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

It doesn't matter if you are an A, B, C or DD - this challenge is for everyone. This is the chance to buy the cup size you want, wire, satin or sensible cotton, white, black or any color in between - there are no limitations.

Your Bra can be made from any medium (fabric, wire, clay, paper, wood…) but it must maintain a likeness to a bra purse. If you intend creating a purse from a traditional underwire bra, then check out this wonderful little book online at Joggles - a portion of proceeds from the sale of this book goes towards the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

So gather you favorite trims, beads, crystals, ribbons, & bows, buttons, luminere's, fibers, glue, glitter, sense of fun and…….Don't forget Joggles.com is your corner store for all these wonderful items and so much more.

Challenge Details

  1. This Challenge is open to anyone residing in the USA or Canada.
  2. Challenge Entry Fee is $15 which covers, postage & handling*
    Your finished piece may be no larger than 10" x 10"
    Your finished piece must weight less than 5lbs
    If you wish to enter more than one purse, each entry must be registered separately.
  3. *One entry fee inclusive in conference attendee fee. If attendees wish to make another additional purses for the challenge then an entry fee for each submission is required.
  4. You will be notified if your Bra Purse has been selected to become part of a trunk show that will travel the east coast, raising money to benefit breast cancer patients under the care of Visually Speaking LLC. They will be returned to each artist post tour. All other entries will be returned to the original owner no later than January 2008.
  5. Bra purses must be in the hands of organizers by September 18 2007 to be included in the inaugural exhibition, display and judging.
  6. Winners of the various categories will be notified by email/mail and will receive a gift certificate to shop online at the ArtFest Sponsor's website
